Sutter Health has released its 2025 Annual Report, a comprehensive look at a year defined by ONE Team. Bold Ideas. Big Impact. Across 75+ pages, the report shows how Sutter, alongside its aligned medical groups, is advancing an integrated, comprehensive and connected system of care for the 3.6 million people, or one in every 100 Americans, who rely on the Sutter for their care.
More care, closer to home. Sutter celebrated 31 sites opening and expanding, and 15 groundbreakings in 2025, plus announced new campuses coming to Emeryville, Santa Clara and Sacramento and additional communities. More than 1,100 new physicians and clinicians joined Sutter, including nearly 250 in primary care, helping bring more care to more people closer to home.
Providing world-class care to more patients. 3.6 million people rely on Sutter for their care. That’s one in every 100 Americans, and the system is building destination programs and services to serve them. Through clinical service lines, Sutter is coordinating care and elevating the standard for every patient. In 2025, Sutter cancer teams diagnosed 22,000 new cases. Heart and vascular teams cared for 488,000 patients. Orthopedic teams served more than 360,000 patients. Neuroscience teams served about 222,000 patients and behavioral health teams cared for 63,000.
Strategic digital investments are making care easier to access and deliver. More than 62% of Sutter patients are now digitally engaged with about 1.2 million active monthly users of My Health Online and nearly 28% of patients scheduled appointments online. Sutter also added on-demand video visits, a 24/7 nurse advice line and AI-supported voice assistance last year. In addition, Sutter is using digital tools, automation and smarter workflows to better support physicians and care teams across the system. This helped save teams 1.6 million hours in 2025 alone.
We’re building the best place to work in healthcare. Sutter reached 90% employee retention, well above the national average, with record engagement scores across employees, medical groups and medical staff. Becker’s named Sutter a Top Place to Work in Healthcare, Newsweek named Sutter one of America’s Greatest Workplaces and Fast Company named Sutter a Top 5 Best Workplace for Innovators. Sutter’s clinical excellence earned national recognition in 2025 too, with Healthgrades naming Sutter California’s most awarded system for its 50/100/250 Hospitals distinction and Premier ranking Sutter #3 in Overall Quality Performance.
Continued generosity from donors who trust us. 2025 was Sutter’s third straight year of record-breaking philanthropy. More than 13,000 donors gave $242 million, including the two largest gifts in Sutter’s history. Those investments will expand access in Silicon Valley and bring comprehensive cancer services to Santa Cruz, and they show just how much Sutter’s communities believe in the organization.
