Sutter Health is committed to re-opening the Mickelson Center warm water therapy pool which was closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Renovation work is scheduled to begin in November, and we need your input on the colors for the pool edging and wording outside the locker rooms.

Please take a moment to vote on which option you like the most. (Elemental Tan is the pool deck color in both options.)

The Mickelson Arthritis and Rehabilitation Center pool, located at the Mills Health Center in San Mateo, is an ADA-compliant warm water facility that had aged over its many years of service. Closed at the start of the pandemic in 2020, the pool could not be reopened without repairs and improvements. After obtaining the necessary licenses and permits for construction, Sutter is on track for an anticipated re-opening of the pool for its patients in early summer 2024, pending no unforeseen delays.

We are committed to listening to and including our community as we re-open the pool. In an effort to ensure transparency throughout this process, we will continue to provide updates as they are available at this website.

Our teams have assessed the work needed to reopen the pool and following that analysis, we’ve committed to investing in the project and are moving forward. We are in the process of applying for necessary permits before work can begin, and anticipate that the pool will be ready for our patients in early summer 2024, pending no unforeseen delays.
