Approval Comes as New Teaching Hospital Gears Up for Arrival of First Physician Residents

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Sutter Roseville Medical Center received accreditation this week for an Emergency Medicine physician residency program, the first such residency track in Sutter Health’s integrated network of care.

The first Emergency Medicine residents will begin in 2023 and will partner with physicians at the top of their fields. The Sutter Roseville Emergency Department, which doubled in size with an addition in 2020, sees approximately 90,000 patients per year with a wide range of medical and trauma needs. Coupled with talented, supportive physicians and care teams, it offers an extraordinary environment for these budding physicians to take the next steps forward in their careers.

Sutter Roseville is a Level II trauma center and serves seven Northern California counties.

The physician residents will follow on the heels of Sutter Roseville’s first residents in Surgery and Internal Medicine, who will start their residency programs in June.

The Emergency Medicine track is the third to be accredited as Sutter Roseville’s program continues to grow over the next five years. When completed, the teaching hospital plans to have programs in more than 10 specialties, including Anesthesiology, OB-GYN, Cardiovascular Disease, Surgical Critical Care, Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care Medicine and more.
