November 1 marks the start of open enrollment when thousands of Northern Californians shop for health coverage through Covered California. It’s here that individuals can find affordable coverage and see if they qualify for financial help to lower their monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

We are excited to share Sutter’s network of doctors, hospitals and other services are participating in Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California individual and family plans available through Covered California. Individuals can begin selecting plans during open enrollment — Nov. 1, 2022, through Jan. 31, 2023 — with coverage effective in 2023.

Anthem Blue Cross’ EPO Pathway Plans:

  • Bronze 60 HDHP EPO
  • Bronze 60 EPO
  • Silver 70 EPO
  • Gold 80 EPO
  • Platinum 90 EPO

Blue Shield PPO Network Plans:

  • Blue Shield Platinum 90 PPO
  • Blue Shield Gold 80 PPO
  • Blue Shield Silver 70, 73, 87, 94 PPO
  • Blue Shield Bronze 60 PPO
  • Blue Shield Bronze 60 HDHP PPO
  • Blue Shield Minimum Coverage PPO

Plans available through Covered California are available in four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. As the metal tier increases in value, so does the percentage of medical expenses that the health plan covers; however, monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs vary based on the plan’s metal tier. While patients enrolling in plans with a higher metal tier (Gold or Platinum) typically pay less out-of-pocket at the time of service, the monthly premiums are higher. Plans in the lower metal tiers (Bronze or Silver) offer lower monthly premiums, but patients pay more out-of-pocket at the time of service.

In addition to including the high-quality primary care clinicians and specialists within Sutter’s network, these Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California plans also give people access to convenient care options such as Sutter Walk-In Care and Sutter Urgent Care. Sutter-aligned medical group clinicians participate in My Health Online, Sutter’s secure portal that allows patients to schedule video visits, message care teams, access medical records, pay bills, and more — anytime, anywhere.

Individuals interested in these plans can learn more from a local broker (services available free of charge), by visiting CoveredCA.com/Get-Started, or by calling a Covered California enrollment specialist at 800-300-1506.
