Mayor honors two folks with award

The new Sutter Health Mosaic Center and the Mosaic Village Partnership, part of the West Sacramento Mercy Coalition, received the Mayor’s Civic Leadership Award for Community during the annual State of the City luncheon last week.

West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero presented the award to Mercy Coalition Executive Director Don Bosley and Sutter’s Community Health Director Kelly Brenk. The award recognizes the business, people and organizations that bring the City of West Sacramento together, making the neighborhoods and families of West Sacramento stronger, happier and closer.

“With their unwavering commitment to improving the mental health and wellbeing of our community, Sutter Health’s substantial Investment of $569,000 in the West Sacramento Mercy Coalition has been pivotal in establishing the Mosaic Village. This safe healing place supports individuals impacted by substance-use disorders, homelessness, and mental health challenges,” Mayor Guerrero said. “This partnership exemplifies the profound impact that dedicated community support can have on vulnerable populations.”

Located at 929 Drever St. in West Sacramento, the new Sutter Health Mosaic Center houses critical programs, such as the JAM Academy workforce development initiative, and provides a distribution center for emergency food, clothing and hygiene items. It also offers a meeting space for the School for Recovery, which empowers participants to make healthier life choices.
