Christina Oh, who came to Sutter Health less than a year ago as president of the healthcare system’s Bay Area Division, has been recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business for 2024.

During Oh’s tenure, Sutter Health has made significant investments in expanding access to care across the Bay Area, from growing the healthcare workforce of the future to adding new physical clinical capacity, including a project that will bring together much-needed specialty services in one key location. The new Mission Bernal Care Complex, adjacent to Sutter’s CPMC Mission Bernal campus and slated to welcome patients in 2028, will serve as an advanced, multi-specialty center for comprehensive neurological and neurosurgical care. It’s the first project in Sutter’s larger planned growth strategy for San Francisco over the next five years, which, when combined, will result in nearly a billion dollars in investment dollars across the city.

“I was drawn to Sutter Health because of the commitment from the highest levels of leadership to help millions of Californians get the healthcare they need—and I found a team that doesn’t just walk the talk, but runs the talk,” Oh said. “It’s been an absolute honor to help lead the way in the Bay Area, recruiting physicians, training future healthcare workers, expanding existing care sites and launching new projects.”

She came to Sutter Health from HCA Healthcare’s Trident Health System in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was president and CEO. At Trident, she expanded the system’s acute and ambulatory footprint, built tertiary services and developed a “people-first” culture among employees and physicians. Prior to Trident, Oh was CEO at Tenet Healthcare hospitals in Goodyear, Arizona and Orange County, California. Oh holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baylor University, along with a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Learn more about Oh in this recent Q&A with the Bay Area Council, the region’s foremost organization of business and civic-minded leaders working to shape the future of the Bay Area. Oh co-chaired the organization’s Women’s Leadership Summit earlier this month.
