When patients walk into a hospital, safety is the expectation, not a question. Sutter Health hospitals earned strong marks in the Leapfrog Group’s 2026 Spring Hospital Safety Grades, underscoring the system’s commitment to safe, reliable care patients can count on.

Leapfrog, a national nonprofit that evaluates hospitals on patient safety and quality, assigns hospitals an “A” through “F” grade based on more than 30 measures, including preventing errors, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals use to reduce risk. For patients and families, strong Leapfrog grades provide an independent, easy-to-understand signal that hospitals are consistently focused on protecting patients from preventable harm.

“This recognition reflects the vigilance and collaboration our care teams bring to patient safety every day,” said Dr. William Isenberg, vice president and chief medical and quality officer at Sutter Health. “We’re proud of their unwavering commitment and dedication, which ensures patients and families can count on consistent, high-quality care.”

Sutter’s performance reflects a systemwide culture centered on clinical excellence, transparency and continuous improvement. Across the organization, clinicians and care teams work together to identify risks early, follow evidence-based practices and speak up when concerns arise — all with the goal of making care safer for every patient, every time.
