Sutter Health is expanding access to care in the Tri-Valley with the opening of its new Pleasanton Care Center, a thoughtfully designed outpatient facility that brings advanced technology, specialized services and patient-centered design together under one roof.
Located at 5075 Hopyard Rd, Pleasanton, the new facility offers physical therapy, advanced imaging services and a full-service pediatric urgent care, making it easier for patients and families to receive high-quality care close to home.
“We’re having a very exciting opening,” said Kevin Cook, Sutter Health president of operations for the Greater Silicon Valley Division. “Our Dublin facility has been very busy for a number of years, and we recognized that this community continues to grow. This building allows us to better meet the needs of patients today while preparing for the future.”
The new care center expands access to a full range of imaging services, including MRI, CT scans, ultrasound, mammography, DEXA scans and general X-ray. The pediatric urgent care, new to the Pleasanton community, provides families with convenient access to same-day care for illnesses and minor injuries, while the building’s design allows children who need imaging to move seamlessly from the urgent care clinic to the imaging department without traveling to another location.
“We’re very excited about this place,” said Dr. Soham Javari, Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (PAFMG) internal medicine physician and associate medical director of business development. “There’s a tremendous need in the community for radiology services and pediatric urgent care. Expanding into Pleasanton is an important strategy to improve access so patients don’t have to travel as far to receive the care they need.”
Every aspect of the building was intentionally designed to create a calming, welcoming experience for patients. Soft color palettes, abundant natural light and carefully selected artwork from local artists help create an environment that promotes healing. Sutter caregivers also played a role in selecting artwork that complements each clinical space.
In the physical therapy department, abstract sports-inspired artwork reflects themes of movement, recovery and healthy living.
“We wanted to create an environment that feels relaxing and inviting,” Dr. Javari said. “The artwork reminds patients that we’re here to help them return to the activities they enjoy.”
The rehabilitation area features private treatment rooms alongside a spacious gym equipped with exercise bikes, medicine balls, foam rollers and specialized therapy equipment. Private rooms also support services such as pelvic floor therapy, while the open rehabilitation space allows therapists to guide patients recovering from orthopedic injuries and other conditions. 
The facility was designed to accommodate up to 10 physical therapists, with capacity to expand as community demand continues to grow. Even before opening, approximately 200 patients had already been scheduled for care.
Accessibility also played a central role in the building’s design. Larger exam rooms, movable equipment and sliding doors create more functional spaces for patients with disabilities, caregivers and families while improving workflow for clinicians.
The pediatric urgent care continues that patient-first approach with colorful animal-themed artwork, spacious examination rooms and dedicated treatment areas designed to make children feel more comfortable during their visit. Behind the scenes, state-of-the-art imaging equipment and dedicated radiology reading rooms help caregivers deliver efficient, coordinated care.
Cook said the Pleasanton Care Center represents another step in Sutter Health’s long-term investment in the growing Tri-Valley region.
“Better care, closer to home is incredibly important for this community,” Cook said. “This building is part of our plan to continue expanding services where patients need them most, and we’re excited to continue that growth with the opening of our new ambulatory surgery center later this year.”
