For thousands of East Bay residents, staying active isn’t just a lifestyle, it’s a passion. Whether it’s a weekend hike in the hills or competing on the field, movement matters. And when injuries happen, expert care can make all the difference. That’s why Sutter Health is investing in the future of orthopedic care, helping patients have access to nationally recognized orthopedic and sports medicine expertise, close to home.

Each year, more than 350 Sutter physicians perform over 61,500 orthopedic and sports medicine procedures, helping patients return to the activities they love. Now, that commitment is growing stronger. Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation recently marked two major milestones that expand access to integrated, patient-centered orthopedic care across the East Bay.

The first: a ribbon cutting for Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation’s newly expanded Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, and Podiatry clinic at 350 30th St. in Oakland. The second: officially welcoming Cal Sports & Orthopaedic Institute into the Sutter system, bringing its renowned team of specialists to clinics in Orinda, Berkeley and Oakland.

On November 10, Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation celebrated its newly expanded Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, and Podiatry clinic in Oakland.

“Cal Sports Orthopaedics has long been a pillar of excellence in East Bay orthopedic care, and we’re honored to officially welcome their team into the Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation,” Dr. Rob Nordgren, chief medical officer for Sutter Health’s Greater San Francisco and East Bay Divisions. “Their deep ties to the athletic community and commitment to advanced patient-focused care align perfectly with our mission to provide the highest level of orthopedic care to our patients in the communities where they live and work, ultimately making it easier for them to access integrated, comprehensive, patient-centered care.”

Sutter’s broader plan to expand access across the East Bay, includes adding 50 new primary care providers in Oakland and Berkeley over the next three years. By addressing gaps in care and offering comprehensive resources, Sutter is making it easier for patients — from everyday athletes to weekend warriors—to return to doing what they love with confidence.
