NORTHERN CALIFORNIA— Sutter Health today announced Chief Operating Officer Mark Sevco will be leaving the organization to pursue a new leadership opportunity as the president and CEO of Alleghany Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Mark that reflects both his exceptional leadership and deep expertise in healthcare operations and allows him to return to the city he calls home, bringing him closer to his entire family,” said Warner Thomas, president and CEO of Sutter Health. “While we are sad to see him go, we are grateful for his impact at Sutter. His dedication to operational excellence and leadership in forming our dyad leadership structure and building a top leadership team, as well as his collaboration with our medical group partners, has strengthened our organization in meaningful ways. We appreciate his contributions and wish him great success in this next chapter.”

Since joining Sutter Health in 2023, Sevco has played a critical role in recruiting top talent, enhancing service line and division structures, and driving key operational initiatives. He also helped lead Sutter’s first systemwide dyad partnership with Dr. Todd Smith, reinforcing a model that fosters strong clinical and operational alignment.

Reflecting on his time at Sutter, Sevco expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as COO, stating, “It has been a privilege to be part of Sutter Health—an organization that is making a real difference in the lives of patients and communities across California—and to work alongside such a dedicated and talented team. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and will always remember my time at Sutter with great appreciation.”

Sutter Health will begin a national search immediately for Sevco’s successor. His last day at Sutter Health will be March 21.
