Sutter Health, Community Foundation Sonoma County Award $500K for Mental Health Services
SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Sutter Health and Community Foundation Sonoma County (Community Foundation) have awarded $500,000 through a new collective Mental Health Grant program. This initiative offers vital funding to local nonprofits that provide important safety-net mental health and well-being services to underserved communities in the region.
“Collaborating with like-minded organizations allows us to maximize our investments and empower local nonprofits to create meaningful and lasting change,” said Sutter Health’s Chief External Affairs Officer, Grace Davis.
“Partnerships like this are critical for tackling the growing mental health needs in Sonoma County,” said Amy Holter, Vice President for Community Impact for the Community Foundation. “We are thrilled to collaborate with funding and nonprofit partners who are working towards a more equitable healthcare system in which everyone has access to the mental health services they deserve.”
The fund’s first recipients are local nonprofits working to reduce barriers to mental and behavioral health services for underserved populations, including youth, seniors, people with disabilities, low-income families, survivors of domestic abuse and BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.
“This generous grant from Sutter Health and Community Foundation is crucial in allowing us to adapt our services to meet the evolving needs of marginalized communities, especially during times of crisis. Unrestricted funds enable us to increase access to culturally responsive care by bringing on a bilingual/bicultural therapist who will provide trauma-focused therapy and group support to the underserved communities of Cloverdale and Sonoma,” said Dr. Daniela Dominguez, Founder and CEO of On the Margins, an organization dedicated to providing bilingual and multicultural mental health services to those most impacted by systemic inequities. “We are incredibly grateful for Sutter Health and Community Foundation’s partnership and their dedication to the well-being of communities on the margins.”
