Sutter Health has awarded Bay Area Community Health (BACH) a $250,000 grant to support the continued development of BACH’s McKee Health Clinic in East San Jose — a flagship site designed to expand access to high-quality, comprehensive health services for the region’s underserved communities.

This latest investment is part of Sutter’s ongoing support for BACH, bringing its total contributions to nearly $1 million over the past five years. The new funds will help complete the second phase of the McKee Clinic project at 3055 McKee Road, focusing on the buildout of administrative office space for program and support staff. Once complete, the site will offer a full continuum of care, including medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health services.

“Access to high-quality health care should never depend on where you live or how much you earn,” said Melissa White, Vice President of External Affairs at Sutter Health. “That’s why Sutter Health is proud and fortunate to continue our longstanding partnership with Bay Area Community Health. Their work reflects our shared commitment to community investment and advancing health equity — ensuring more people can get the care they need and deserve.”

Founded in 2020 through the merger of two trusted community clinics — Tri-City Health Center and Foothill Community Health Center — BACH brings over 70 years of combined service to vulnerable populations across southern Alameda County and Santa Clara County. Today, the Federally Qualified Health Center operates 34 sites and serves more than 69,000 individuals annually, regardless of immigration status, income, or ability to pay.

Before becoming BACH, Tri-City Health Center had served the Fremont area for five decades, while Foothill Community Health Center provided critical care services to East San Jose residents beginning in 1996 and later expanded throughout Santa Clara County. Together, the legacy organizations brought deep community relationships, seasoned clinical staff, and a proven track record of culturally responsive care.

“We’re incredibly grateful for Sutter Health’s continued support,” said BACH CEO Dr. Zettie Page III. “Their investment is helping us bring to life a much-needed resource for East San Jose — a place where residents can receive medical, dental, vision, and mental health care all under one roof. We’re excited to continue building something that will make a lasting impact for generations to come.”

To further rally support for the McKee Clinic and other vital community programs, BACH will host The Gatsby Gala: A Roaring Night of Fundraising and Glamour on Saturday, August 9, at the Granada Theatre, 17440 Monterey Road, Morgan Hill. The 1920s-inspired evening begins at 6:00 p.m. and features a dinner, silent auction, and a six-act theatrical performance tracing the organization’s journey through the pandemic and beyond. Proceeds from the event will directly support the final phase of construction at the McKee Clinic.
