Sutter Hospitals Honored for High Quality Stroke, Cardiac Care

Sixteen hospital campuses within Sutter’s not-for-profit system received recognition today from the Get With The Guidelines® program.

The American Stroke Association applauded 15 Sutter hospital campuses for providing a high level of stroke care. An additional five hospital campuses received recognition for high-quality cardiac care from the American Heart Association. (Four hospital campuses earned awards for both stroke and cardiac care.)

Sutter hospital campuses that earned a Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award include:

  • Sutter Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland
  • Sutter California Pacific Medical Center’s Van Ness campus
  • Sutter California Pacific Medical Center’s Davies campus
  • Sutter Davis Hospital
  • Sutter Eden Medical Center
  • Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
  • Sutter Memorial Hospital Los Banos
  • Sutter Memorial Medical Center
  • Sutter Mills-Peninsula Medical Center
  • Sutter Novato Community Hospital
  • Sutter Roseville Medical Center
  • Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital
  • Sutter Solano Medical Center
  • Sutter Tracy Community Hospital

All 14 hospital campuses listed above also earned a place on the Target Stroke Honor Roll, with Sutter Eden Medical Center, Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital and Sutter Tracy Community Hospital each achieving Elite Plus Honor Roll status. To qualify for this recognition, these hospitals met quality measures developed to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment.

Additionally, 13 Sutter hospital campuses earned a place on the Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll, which promotes evidence-based stroke care for patients with diabetes. The campuses are:

  • Sutter California Pacific Medical Center’s Van Ness campus
  • Sutter California Pacific Medical Center’s Davies campus
  • Sutter Davis Hospital
  • Sutter Eden Medical Center
  • Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
  • Sutter Memorial Hospital Los Banos
  • Sutter Memorial Medical Center
  • Sutter Mills-Peninsula Medical Center
  • Sutter Novato Community Hospital
  • Sutter Roseville Medical Center
  • Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital
  • Sutter Solano Medical Center
  • Sutter Tracy Community Hospital

Two hospital campuses, Sutter Memorial Hospital Los Banos and Sutter Amador Hospital each earned the Bronze Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition, a new accolade that accounts for the varied patient care dynamics faced by rural hospitals.

Finally, Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento and Sutter Roseville Medical Center each earned a place on the Advanced Therapy Honor Roll. This is the fourth year in a row for Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento and the first year for Sutter Roseville. This accolade recognizes participating hospitals that met timeliness targets for the removal of blood clots from the brain under image guidance. The procedure, known as endovascular thrombectomy is not performed at all hospitals.

All of the honored hospitals are designated by The Joint Commission as Primary Stroke Centers or higher and serve as a resource available to patients needing stroke-related services.

Cardiology Care

Four Sutter hospital campuses also received recognition from the AHA for their outstanding performance in the treatment of patients presenting to the hospital with an ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) – a specific kind of heart attack that can be caused by coronary artery disease.

  • Sutter Delta Medical Center – Gold Plus recognition from the Mission: Lifeline program
  • Sutter California Pacific Medical Center’s Van Ness and Davies campuses – Silver recognition from the Mission: Lifeline program
  • Sutter Mills-Peninsula Medical Center – Bronze Plus recognition from the Mission: Lifeline program

Additionally, Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento received Silver Plus recognition for the high-quality treatment of heart failure and earned a place on both the Heart Failure honor roll and the Heart Failure Type 2 Diabetes honor roll, which promotes evidence-based care for patients with both conditions.
