SAN FRANCISCO – During the COVID-19 pandemic, front-line staff and physicians at Sutter’s California Pacific Medical Center Van Ness Campus in San Francisco joined in unison—along with thousands of others across the region—to sing the city’s unofficial anthem “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” by Tony Bennett. The legendary Bennett, then age 93, put out a public call on his Twitter feed for the citizens of San Francisco to raise their voices to sing his timeless classic. Bennett, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, passed away this week at age 96.
