The highly contagious delta variant shocked an already-reeling world with the speed at which it spread and became the dominant strain of COVID-19.
After this latest twist in the pandemic story, it may feel overwhelming to try and separate fact from fiction. But knowing whom to go to for science-based information may help.
Recently, on a webinar hosted by the civic and business leadership group Bay Area Council, physician leaders from Sutter Health, UCSF and the California Department for Public Health discussed the current surge in COVID cases caused by the delta variant and the need for more people to be vaccinated to further protect our communities.

William Isenberg, M.D., Ph.D, Sutter Health’s chief quality and safety officer, hosted the program, which also featured UCSF infectious and contagious disease expert Monica Gandhi, M.D., and Caroline Kurtz, M.D., the California Department of Public Health’s COVID local response program coordinator.
