Yuba-Sutter Cancer Patients to Benefit from Generosity of Enterprise Rancheria and the Enterprise Community Fund

YUBA CITY, Calif. — The Enterprise Rancheria Tribe, owners of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento, announced a $1 million gift to Sutter Medical Foundation. This landmark donation — the largest ever received by Sutter Medical Foundation — will provide vital support to cancer patients and their families in Yuba-Sutter counties through programs, services, equipment and more.

“We see the tremendous healthcare that our community receives from Sutter Health and were inspired to partner with them for an extended period to unlock the possibility to transform healthcare for our Greater Yuba-Sutter County community,” said Glenda Nelson, chairwoman of Enterprise Rancheria.

Through funds raised at the annual Pinktober event hosted by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento, Enterprise Rancheria and its affiliated Enterprise Community Fund will make an annual donation of $200,000 per year for five years starting in 2024. This philanthropic investment will drive impactful innovations in cancer care for residents in and around Yuba and Sutter counties and the greater Sacramento region.

“We are excited to be partnering with Enterprise Rancheria to shape the future of cancer care for everyone in our community, building the most comprehensive, integrated and connected health system,” said Dr. Steven Dale Blair, president of Sutter North Medical Foundation.

Expanding Care for Yuba-Sutter Region

Sutter Health is committed to expanding access to healthcare in the Greater Yuba-Sutter region. One of Sutter’s latest investments in the area is for a new primary care clinic in Plumas Lake. Set to open in 2025, this new facility will house primary care physicians and rotating specialists, enabling patients to receive care close to home. Last year, Sutter Health established a new program in the area to identify patients at risk for lung cancer sooner. Area residents benefit from multidisciplinary care teams from across the network to diagnose and receive needed cancer care and treatment faster, helping improve overall health outcomes and chances of survival.

This year Sutter celebrated 50 years of serving the Brownsville community, about 40 minutes from Yuba City. In the early 1990s the two doctors who established a healthcare practice in Brownsville, Drs. Bill Hoffman and John Rose partnered with the Sutter North Medical Group, which allowed them to make seamless referrals to some of the country’s top specialists in the Sutter Health Network.

“We are grateful to have philanthropic partners who recognize the possibilities to advance and expand our mission of exceptional care for local residents,” said Dr. Elizabeth Vilardo, chief medical officer, Strategic and Philanthropic Initiatives for Sutter Health who participated at the official event announcing this commitment. “A gift of this magnitude helps us reimagine healthcare and turn possibilities into realities.”

Bringing Care Closer to Home

One of Sutter Health’s strategic priorities is to increase clinical capacity by enhancing existing care centers, opening new ones across its footprint, and recruiting more physicians and advanced practice clinicians so that patients can access both preventative and urgent care services closer to home. Sutter has made great progress on this bold plan.
