Tosan Boyo, Sutter Health’s East Bay Division President, has been named to Modern Healthcare’s prestigious 40 Under 40 list, recognizing young leaders who are making significant contributions to the healthcare industry through their innovation, leadership and commitment to improving health outcomes. Boyo joined Sutter Health in 2023 as part of the organization’s new community-based division operating model, designed to better serve patients where they live, work, and access care. Since stepping into this role, Tosan has worked to advance Sutter’s partnership with Stanford Medicine aimed at developing a world-class cancer center in Oakland. This collaboration will significantly expand access to coordinated, state-of-the-art cancer care for patients across the region when it opens in late 2026.

Born in Nigeria and raised in New Jersey, Boyo’s multicultural perspective has been the foundation of his passion for eliminating healthcare disparities. Throughout his career, he has championed initiatives that prioritize operational efficiency, quality outcomes, and access to affordable, high-quality care. Prior to joining Sutter Health, Boyo served as Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations at John Muir Health and Chief Operating Officer of San Francisco General Hospital.
