Sutter East Bay Medical Group is expanding women’s health services in Berkeley with the completion of Phase II at the Adeline Care Center, which has been operating since last May.
Located at the Ed Roberts Campus, the expansion adds 13 exam rooms for a total of 33 and increases on-site staffing from nine providers to 14 providers along with two laboratory technicians. The project also adds 5,596 square feet of clinical space to expand access and capacity.
The updated space is located directly above the Ashby BART station at 3075 Adeline Street in Berkeley, offers free parking, and features 120-square-foot exam rooms, bright lighting and ADA-accessible amenities designed to support patient comfort and mobility needs.

Opened in 2011, the 85,000-square-foot Ed Roberts Campus serves as an international center for the Independent Living Movement and houses multiple disability-focused organizations reflecting its long-standing role in the East Bay community.
“With expanded clinic capacity, we’re able to coordinate care across visits and reduce delays between evaluation and treatment,” said Dr. Isabelle Cohen, OB-GYN specialist with Sutter East Bay Medical Group. “It also allows us to manage more procedures in the clinic setting, supporting more timely care for our patients.”
The project also adds a third MyoSure tower, enabling in-clinic hysteroscopies and tissue removal procedures. This reduces procedure time to about one hour compared with six to eight hours in a hospital setting, helping lower recovery time and costs, allowing many patients to return home the same day.
“This growth increases our ability to care for more patients within the clinic,” said Karen Magana Vargas, clinical operations supervisor for Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation. “With additional exam rooms and on-site resources, we’re able to offer more services without relying on hospital-based care.”
The Adeline Care Center offers specialty clinics in obstetrics and gynecology, including reproductive health, menopause, sexual health and cancer survivorship. A dedicated lactation consulting space was also added to support patients during pregnancy and postpartum care.
“Our focus is on creating a setting that supports patients throughout their care journey,” said Kirsten Hutchinson, Area II manager for Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation. “The design and layout help improve flow within the clinic and create a more supportive environment for both patients and care teams.”
The care team continues to grow with certified nurse midwives Adriana Ramos and LaKendra Cornelius, and obstetrician Dr. Rebecca Falik, who joined Sutter East Bay Medical Group in recent months, with additional clinicians expected later this year and in early 2027.
